What is Community?

What is a community? well, in my opinion, a community can not be placed under a clear-cut definition. To me, a community is a matter of respect. Many people feel that people in a community must share similar beliefs, but this is, more often than not, a false conclusion . A community is a place where people respect you and accept you, no matter what your beliefs are. In my opinion, a community is more than a physical group of people; It is a state of mind where there is a mutual respect for one another. Not everyone in a community will get along and there will be conflicts that arise all because of differences in beliefs, but as long as there is a mutual respect, a community is present. The world is one big community because there is a general respect for one another even thought there are millions of different beliefs.

Since community, to me, is a state of mutual respect, I feel that people affect the community in a large way, but the community doesn't necessarily affect the people in a large way. For example, people affect the community because if people don't respect each other, then no community exists. When people have a better understanding of those around them, they're able to have more respect for one another, thus improving the community.
